Dr Erin Sharwood
Paediatric Endocrinologist, Brisbane
Dr Erin Sharwood is a consultant medical specialist in paediatric endocrinology in Brisbane.
Erin looks after children with a range of endocrine problems including:
Pituitary disorders
Delayed or early (precocious) puberty
Growth disorders
Type 1 Diabetes
Thyroid disease
Hormone effects of cancer treatment
Erin has a particular interest in:
pituitary disorders
endocrine effects of oncology therapy
disorders of puberty
Erin completed medical school at the University of Melbourne and her specialist training at the Lady Cilento Children’s Hospital (now Queensland Children's Hospital) in Brisbane, and was lucky enough to spend some time with the Paediatric Endocrinology team at the National Institutes of Health, in Bethesda, MD, USA.
Dr Sharwood also works in clinical ethics, and holds a Masters degree in Bioethics. Erin is interested in collaborative decision making and fostering strong therapeutic relationships.
Erin is currently undertaking a PhD looking at links between endocrine function, sleep, and body composition in children who have had brain tumours.
Erin loves spending time with her family and her adorable son.
